Prayer Request

Today we learned that after 5 years at our current location, we are no longer able to use the facility. We currently do not have a member who is also a current member of the church. The church’s By-Laws state this as a requirement for using the facility. We are currently looking for a new facility. Please pray that God will bless us with a new facility to use.

Subway keeps promise to homeschoolers

Subway keeps promise to homeschoolers

By Beverly Hernandez, About.com Guide to Homeschooling since 1999
Sunday July 13, 2008
In response to the protest by homeschoolers about being excluded in their earlier contest, Subway apologized and promised to include homeschoolers in their next contest. They have kept their promise by running a summer edition of their Every Sandwich Tells A Story Contest. Homeschoolers are encouraged to participate. It’s a nice summer project for the kids. The deadline is August 31, 2008, 11:59 p.m. EST, so don’t dilly dally.

Lesson Planning Cont.

If you are planning on purchasing any supplies, you must use the Request for Approval Form.   This form is located in Section 1 under “Forms”.   Please follow instructions on the form carefully.

Next Board Meeting is August 4th.  It would be best to make purchase requests by then.   The next meeting after that would not be until mid-Sept. which would delay your class, and if the RFA is not approved you will have time to adapt your purchase.

Lesson Planning

Dear Returning LEAP Members:

excerpts from: “The Co-Op Day” in Section 1 of the Handbook:

Lesson Planning

All parents who have been assigned to a class as “Teacher” are responsible to organize Lesson Plans for the 6 class days for that class. To prepare for Teacher absences, these Lesson Plans should be turned in by September 1. Each Teacher should also be ready to share the Scope and Sequence pages with all parents of students in your class on the first Regular Day so that parents can coordinate with home curriculum or quarterly reports as beneficial.

Many classes, particularly Core Classes, may already have established Lesson Plans for the year. Please check with the Board Member in charge of lesson plans.

Substitute lessons are also helpful for a class that would be too difficult for your assistant to do without you. You can turn in a page, packet or a whole box of supplies that can be stored for an emergency in the event that you will be absence. Please turn all these forms in to the proper Board Member.
Download the forms and use them as a Word Doc. template to create your own typed forms, or erase the typed directions and print blank forms to hand write your lesson.

These forms are available in Section 3 and 4 plus here:

New and Improved Schedules

Please check the Regular Day: Class, Teacher and Student Schedules. (Section 3)
Alternate Day: Class, Teacher and Student Schedules. (Section 4)
and Grade/Class List (Section 2)
Calendar was just tweaked a little, no actual changes to dates.

These schedules have all been updated. They are still not complete. Please check yours and your child(ren)’s schedules. Not all assistants are assigned yet, please be patient with us. We have to still work out kinks with the teacher and student ones and then add assistants.

Please report any conflicts or problems to Nancy or Dawn immediately. If there is a ? by yours or your child’s name it is because we are not sure about that class choice.
