Operation Christmas Child Boxes

Thanksgiving and Christmas are almost here.  What better way for your family to give to the needy then to put together a shoe box for child. Don’t know what Operation Christmas Child is all about? Well, please click on the link below and let Franklin Graham (Rev. Billy Graham’s son) tell you about it.

Our host church, First Assembly of God, is one of many National drop off centers. They will be collecting boxes from November 16 thru November 22.  Please plan on bringing a box or two or three… with you when you come for Competition Night on the 22nd.  The Honor Bound Motor Cycle club will just be finishing up packing up crates of boxes to be shipped all over the world.

Many families have each child do a box. The website has a list of appropriate gifts and ones that are not allow. Please review the list. There are also labels that you can print off the website or they are available in the foyer of First Assembly of God.  Don’t forget to add a personalized note from your family and a photo.  Many families do hear back from the grateful child, it is very exciting to see where your box will end up.

Registration Day Itinerary ( Click here)

To prepare for the day:

1. Please be sure that your computer has the most up to date adobe reader to read the pdf files (all pages on site)
(not only should this help with any viewing and printing problems, but there are also numerous virus attacks coming through such  products – important to stay up to date)
http://www.adobe.com/products/reader/ (if you have an older, slower computer, we have an alternative, just email or call Dawn)

2. Go to yearly enrollment forms (on the left hand side bar)
http://leaphomeschool.wordpress.com/yearly-enrollment-forms/

Please print: each of the forms in this section and bring them to registration day
NOTE: You only need to do 4H if you have never done it and want to or you have a new kindergartner

3. Please read the course descriptions (on the left hand side bar)
http://leaphomeschool.wordpress.com/yearly-enrollment-forms/course-descriptions/

NOTE: Not all classes have descriptions. Also, not all classes have confirmed teachers, so in some cases the description given is general, not specific.

4. Please bring your LEAP NOTEBOOK along with your completed forms.

5. You may bring curriculum to swap/sell, but you must be responsible to remove it from the building.

6. Please be sure when you are at registration that you go to each station and see each board member; we each have areas that we need to talk to you about or update.

NOTE ABOUT TIME CHANGE:

We were in conflict with the food pantry at First Assembly which is open from 9 – 12. We were hoping to have our registration upstairs and have kids play up in the upper parking lot, but with the weather forecast, we need the whole downstairs and so we need to move the time.

If you cannot make this new time period because of a previous commitment, please contact Dawn (phone or email) and make arrangements to come earlier.

There were also tentative plans to have a picnic or go to a beach afterward, but those plans too have been changed. We will reschedule and send out an email at a later date.

New LEAP Schedules are posted

Dear New and Returning Families,

Well, Registration Day is just one week away.  The Board has been hard at work creating new schedules and updating forms on the website.  Currently the Class Schedules for Regular Day and Alternate Day are now available.  (Go to Table of Contents and look for “Tentative” schedules in Section 3 and 4).   No teacher or student schedules until after registration day.  We are also working on an updated Course Description, please check back.  We hope to have it posted by Registration Day.

BIG CHANGES – You have asked for it, and we finally figured out a way to do it.  The Jr & Sr. High Science classes will now be offered as part of the Regular & Alternate LEAP days;  BUT this comes at a price.  In order to fit this 2 hour program in, it means coming an hour early, but you won’t need to drive to Sparrowbush every Tuesday night.  So, we think it is a good trade off.

Also, very sad to announce, there will not be any hot lunches created by the Home Ec. Class.   Hopefully the home ec. class can still do snacks, desserts and salads for sale.

So, please look over these schedules with your family.  Come on Thursday with an idea of what you might like to  teach or assist.  Come also with an open mind and a willing heart to teach anything.  Please also come with a list of what your child would be interested in.

The “Tentative” Calendar of Events is also posted in Section 2

Sincerely,

LEAP Board

LEAP is at home…

at First Assembly of God again.  The board has approved our request to remain at the church another year.

So, please come visit us on June 18 for registration day.  Times 10 a.m. to 12 noon.

Class schedules are in the works.  Choices are the usually juicy classes.  Home Economics, Sciences, Writing and Poetry, Gym, Dramas, Guitar, Spanish, Arts…  Most of the same classes you love to see at LEAP.

The ultimate schedule will be determined by number of students, number of teachers and so on.

We will post a sample schedule soon.

If you are considering  joining  LEAP or returning, please let us know soon.  We like to know by June 1, we really need to know by June 18, we will still take you by July 1,   After that, well, you have until August 1 for paperwork.  SO, please Pray, Pray, Pray and let us know.

Why so early, well, classes need to be organized, teachers need to know number of students so they can buy supplies, parents need to know what classes will be covered by LEAP so they don’t have to order books for home, you get the picture.

LEAP Registration

New Families interested in LEAP are encouraged to contact us by June 1, email leaphomeschool@gmail.com

Registration Day for new and returning families is June 18 in Port Jervis, NY
