Operation Christmas Child Boxes

The season of Thanksgiving and Christmas will soon be upon us. What better way for your family to give to the needy then to put together a shoe box for child. Don’t know what Operation Christmas Child is all about? Well, please click on the link below and let Franklin Graham (Rev. Billy Graham’s son) tell you about it.

Our host church, First Assembly of God, is one of many National drop off centers. They will be collecting boxes from November 16 thru November 22.  Please plan on bringing a box or two or three… with you when you come for Competition Night on the 22nd. The Honor Bound Motor Cycle club will just be finishing up packing up crates of boxes to be shipped all over the world.

Many families have each child do a box. The website has a list of appropriate gifts and ones that are not allow. Please review the list. There are also labels that you can print off the website or they are available in the foyer of First Assembly of God.  Don’t forget to add a personalized note from your family and a photo.  Many families do hear back from the grateful child, it is very exciting to see where your box will end up.

December Events

Thursday, December 11 is our Annual Christmas Party.  The day begins with a community service project at the Jewish Temple in town at 1:30 to 3:30.  Then head down the road to Grace Fellowship from 4:00-5:30 for our 4-H Christmas Party & Business Meeting.

Please bring some Christmas snacks to share during the party.

Today is our Last Co-Op Class of 2008

Please be sure to take picturs of your class.  Finish up any projects that you have been working on and make arrangements to send them home or talk to Dawn about possible storage until next season.

Next week, November 11 is our annual 4-H Christmas Party and Business Meeting.  It will be at Grace Fellowship.  Any one in K-12th grade is welcome to attend.  Events for that day are as follows:

1:30-3:30 wrapping presents with the Easter Seals organization (Jewish Temple in Port Jervis)

(Yes, we are wrapping Christmas Presents for Easter Seals at the Jewish Temple, that is just so funny)

4:00-5:30 Christmas Party and Business Meeting (Grace Fellowship in Port Jervis)

Please send pictures to Dawn for the website.  She has already been adding pics to the picasa site.  Please go check them out and send her yours.  Some pics may end up in the yearbook at the end of the year, so please send them in.

Speaking of Yearbooks, don’t forget to take some family photos this holiday and start working on your Co-Op family page to turn in in the Spring of 2009.

Food Pantry

Anyone interesting in helping out with Joseph’s Storehouse Food Pantry can come to 1st Assembly of God between 9:30 and 12:30 today to help unload the delivery truck.

This can count as a 4-H Community Service Project.

Food Pantry – Community Service

Dear Leap Families,

As per announcement made at last business meeting, there is an opportunity to do community service this Thursday around 12 noon at First Assembly of God.

This will involved unloading a truck/van of boxes big and small and taking them to the back food pantry storage room.

Wendy at the food pantry said that she can use help anytime after 9:30 to pack boxes, but the real help is once the truck shows up.  Not sure how punctual the delivery truck is.  Haven’t actually done this myself, just randomly been there when it was already going on.

So, if you have some spare time Thursday, March 6, at noon, come on over.
