PICTURES:

I am currently trying out the Picasa Photo Sharing Website – Here is the link— Cut and paste the “entire line” to get in— (it was in your email)

NOTE:  As with anything on the internet, these sites may contain content not appropriate for families.  Picasa vs. Flickr, doesn’t seem to allow you to other people’s photos as easily.  I have the security on the site turned way up as to not allow anything in appropriate, but I don’t know if that is passed on to the guest pass.  So, I think the Picasa site with the link just to our page is hopefully a better choice for now then the guest pass at Flickr.  Also please pass on “your” photos to me by email, to share with other families.  As you can see, I have lots of teens on the site, because that is what my children have taken pictures of, their friends.  You are welcome to right click on any photo and save it to your own computer’s “My Pictures”.  These Pictures are by invite only with this cut and paste link, this link is not visible to the general public.  Please be descrete with who you share this link with (other family and friends).

NEW Email Address:

leaphomeschool@gmail.com

We have a general email for the general public to contact us with on the website.

Please share this email and the website with anyone who is interested in LEAP, you are our best advertisement for new families.  Remind them that we would like to hear from them by June 1, registration day and interviews are June 12.  All new family paperwork is due by August 1.

Homeschoolers!– Donna Crum spoke to Jay from the rollerskating rink (the old Gotta Roll Rink behind home depot, in Matamoras) and he said he would be happy to be open Fridays for us from 12:30 – 3 PM . This will be every other Friday starting this Friday the 14th of March. Toddlers may bring their tricycles, and if your child has rollerblades or skates of their own, they are welcome to bring them too. The fee is still $5 for everyone- skater or non skater. (We’ll have to work on that one!) You may also bring your own CD if you’d like to hear any certain  music. They will play what ever we bring. –Spread the word. –
Lisa Williams and some from her co-op will still be skating but on Thursdays. — See you Friday!- Barb Repenning

Skating Update

Thanks for the update and the option to continue going on Fridays. Thursdays rule out all LEAP folks every other week, so none of us will be there this week. Some of us hope to come on Thursday the 20th however, as it starts vacation.

If enough are interested in Fridays we will call Jay direct.

Thanks for starting this up for all—it has been a great option near the end of winter to be active.

Hi there:

I wanted to let you know that we are changing home school roller skating to Thursdays from 11-2, but Jay said that if there is enough interest, he will also continue to do Friday afternoons from  12:30 – 3:00.

Jays number is: 570 229-7190 if you’d like to call and express interest in Fridays. If you can, forward this information to anyone who is interested.

Finally, Thursdays will be 11-2, except for March 20th, when we will skate from 10 -1 due to a public school vacation day.

We had a great turnout yesterday, thanks for spreading the word!

Reminders

1) Skating Friday (see forwarded message)

2) Parent Dinner tomorrow night, 6:30pm. Please remember your silent auction item—something new, very gently used, or antique, or possibly a service from yourself or a business. The auction not only helps in fundraising but adds some extra fun to the night.

Hope those babysitters are all lined up, and that your looking forward to a night of renewal as we remember “Our First Love”—in homeschooling that is!

3) Be sure March 17th, a Monday, is on your Calendars. It is a REGULAR DAY make up, so everyone attends. (Tomorrow we will discuss the Alternate Day make up.)

Skating Cont.

Hi Lisa,

Thanks for the update on skating. I am forwarding it to our group.

Every other Friday we have a LEAP day with some of the families. Many of the younger kids finish at 1:15, which means if any of them come it will not be until 1:45 (some may not want to spend the money for half the time). Many of the older kids have an additional class in the afternoon so most of the teens could not make it at all. So, I’m sure you will get some LEAP folks tomorrow but I expect our numbers will be less on Alternating Fridays.

Let me know if you want a count. Last time we had over 30. We would probably be half that this week.

See you tomorrow—my 10 year old loved it, so I guess my plans are made!

Blessings, Nancy

PS—Tomorrow night is our LEAP parent dinner/speaker at Milford 1st Presbyterian at 6:30. It is open to non-LEAP homeschoolers—cost $12/person. Many in your group are coming. We needed to know in advance, but could accommodate a few last minute, such as yourself it you are interested. Let me know. We’d love to have you

Subject: Skating with the Holy Rollers

Hi there:

I pray that you had a good time this past Friday at the first Homeschool Skate with the “Holy Rollers,” as we’ve donned them! We will skate again this week, from 12:30 – 3:00 to extend the time an extra 1/2 for those who are interested. We may add more time on the front end in subsequent weeks: we can’t push it much past 3:00 , as the “schooled” kids show up after that.

I want to thank you for the kids’ great behavior, and for cleaning up before we left. We have lots of ministry opportunities at the rink, and we have a great opportunity to glorify Christ and share the benefits of homeschooling with those working at the rink. Thank you for being an awesome witness for Jesus! It did not go unnoticed.

Please remember that Jay has asked for the $5.00 entrance fee to be paid by everyone (except babies under 2), not just skaters. So, if you don’t want to skate, see if you can arrange a carpool. Hopefully we can get enough skaters that this will change for the spectators.

We are praying about changing the skating day to earlier in the week for the subsequent weeks. I will keep you all posted.

Thanks for making it a great day, and hope to see you again on Friday!

If you need more information about the skate, please contact me via email or Jay at (570) 229-7190.
The rink is located at 151 Reuben Bell Dr. , Matamoras , PA.

Please forward this to anyone in your group!

Skating Opportunity

Hi there:

We are definitely skating at the new rink in Westfall this Friday! Here are the details:

Friday, February, 29 from 1PM – 3PM , and EVERY Friday.
$5.00 per person (skate rental is included)
The rink is located next to Home Depot in Westfall.

The owner, Jay, is very affable and ready to work with us.  The more people we can get, the better the price will get.  It will stay at $5.00 for now, so tell your friends!

We Can bring our own music, games, etc.  It would only be open to homeschoolers.  It will be pay as you skate arrangement, with no money in advance or obligation to show.

Skating

We have been contacted by some other homeschoolers in the Milford area who are organizing a roller skating opportunity for homeschoolers only on Friday afternoons.

They are part of a very small group of home schoolers (about 20 including parents) who meet on an informal basis. Their group has kids from 14 years to 14 months! Most of them are in the 8-10 range

They recently contacted the owner of the new roller skating rink in Matamoras, next to Home Depot about hosting a home school session, and are wondering if members of LEAP would be interested in participating.

Quoting Lisa Williams:

“His current prices at $6.50 per session and $1.00 for skate rentals. However, he is willing to negotiate with us, and the more people we have who are interested, the lower we can possibly get the rate. Right now we have about 25 people, and I’m hoping to get him to let us in for $5.00 this week. I don’t think we have to guarantee a certain amount of people, but if we have an estimated number, we can use that to get the best price. It would definitely be pay as you can come. We are looking at having the session on Friday afternoons, from 1:30 to 3:30 or so, but that is negotiable. During the winter months, we would like to meet every Friday, but may scale back when the weather improves. During the winter months, we would like to meet every Friday, but may scale back when the weather improves. We can bring our own music, games, etc. We would prefer Christian music. The more the merrier, so share the information as the Lord leads. .”

Please reply to this email if you would like to go this Friday and with how many. In the future you can reply directly to Lisa, but for the first time, if everyone replies to me I will then forward a list to you all of who is going in case you are interested in who will be there from LEAP. Great opportunity to meet others in the area.
