PSAT Testing Coming Up

Attention new 10th and 11th Graders in NY

PSAT/NMSQT

PORT JERVIS HIGH SCHOOL
Homeschool Code (for NY): 993399
School Address: 10 RT 209, PORT JERVIS, NY 12771

Registration & Dates

The 2008 PSAT/NMSQT test dates are Saturday, October 18, 2008. You must sign up for the PSAT/NMSQT at the high school guidance office and pay a fee (minimum $13, plus may add admin fee).  This test is administered by high schools, not through test centers. Online registration for the PSAT/NMSQT is not available.

Also, ask the guidance office for a copy of the Official Student Guide to the PSAT/NMSQT to help you prepare before test day.

Home-Schooled Students are recommended to register in June on the collegeboard page.
http://www.collegeboard.com/student/testing/psat/reg/homeschool.html

The PSAT/NMSQT score report is sent directly to your home address. On the test day, when completing the basic information on the answer sheet, be sure to enter your state’s home school code in the “school code” section. The test supervisor will provide this for you, but try to remember to bring it with you.  You will also need to speak to Ara about getting a LEAP ID card.

These are excepts from Collegeboard.com  Please go there yourself and familiarize yourself with the site, you will begin to visit it a lot.  Go ahead and sign up for the “My Organizer” you can get questions of the day sent to you from now until you take your final actual SAT.  You can view your child’s answers to question after the test if you pay for that service (well worth it) and sign up for an online course.  It is $69 but Alyssa qualified for a $1000 scholarship after using it for her second time round.  Wow $1000 for $69, good bargain.

My suggested schedule of test taking based on many advise pages I’ve read:

PSAT – latest in fall of 11th grade. (may take earlier for practice of the practice, but will need it again in fall of 11th to qualify for NMSQT- good luck!)

get results by Dec, have until spring to study.

SAT – take the true SAT in Spring of 11th grade.

get results in summer have “all summer” to study for 2nd try at SAT’s

SAT – take for a second and final time in fall of 12th grade. (any more than 2 times in not cool to colleges)

get results just in time to apply for scholarships and colleges by Christmas

Any questions, call Dawn or see Collegeboard.com yourself.

SAT Testing Day

Today is SAT (Stanford Achievement Testing) Day.

SAT Testing Day

Today is SAT (Standford Achievement Testing) Day

Last Full Day

Dear LEAP Families,

Well, the last Full Day is almost upon us. We have a few things to take care of to be ready for Closing Program.

1st – each and every family needs to sign up for some type of refreshment, please see sign in table for ideas sheet.

2nd – each and every family MUST be at the Closing Program Rehearsal DAY in the morning, 8:45 am on Friday, April 18th, as listed on our annual calendar.

This is neither a full nor alternate day, however all parents will be assigned teaching or supervisory responsibilities in a special schedule for the morning. If you are in charge you will be notified in advance so you can arrive prepared.

The only JHS/HS class which will meet besides drama is Spanish I. Note: if there is something you would like to offer a specific grade level on that day, please let Nancy know on Thursday or email.

Every class that is in the closing program will have time on or off stage for one last rehearsal. Since every family has children in Pre-K and up, that means your child needs to be there for FINAL REHEARSAL. Please just bring a snack for younger children as we will be done before lunch (although high schoolers may stay longer.)

3rd – if you signed up for some job for the evening, please be sure that you know what it is and when it needs to be done. See Lois or Dawn for assistance. If you have not yet signed up please see what is still needed on Thursday and chose. There is always a need for set up and clean up.

4th – Please be aware that some teachers may want to do a little rehearsing after the SAT’s on the 14th and 15th. See your child’s teacher.

Thank You.
